The Rev. Alex Wilson is our full time Priest in Charge, having being been ordained priest on June 18, 2016 by the Rt. Rev. Melissa Skelton, Bishop of New Westminster. Alex joined the parish in July 2015 as transitional deacon, and was asked by the Bishop to carry on as priest in charge after the retirement of Rev. Harold Munn in June 2016.
Having received his Bachelors Degree in June 2012 from Simon Fraser University in Sociology and Anthropology, Alex concurrently finished the
Education for Ministry program locally and eventually mentored the program for three years. After his undergraduate work Alex relocated to Toronto and attended Trinity College, graduating with a Masters of Divinity, honours, in May 2015. Alex’s honours thesis entitled “ But If The Salt?: The Salinization of an Anglican Voice in the Secular state,” sought to investigate a living inter-religious dialogue in the secular Canadian landscape. Alex hopes to use his thesis work as a foundation into further applied study in the future.
Alex has a deep connection to monastic spirituality and is a member of the Friends of the
Society of St. John the Evangelist, an Anglican monastic order in Cambridge Massachusetts. In his own time, Alex loves to bake, explore the world, enjoy good coffee with freinds, and is an avid spin class enthusiast.
Are you new to St. Anselm’s, the Anglican Church, or faith? Maybe you are wondering what it is we do here? Alex would love to get together and discuss these questions and any others you may have.
Get in touch with him so he can grab a coffee with you soon.
