Join us for the inaugural event of a new ministry called Salal and Cedar. We are thrilled to welcome the Rev. Laurel Dykstra to work with us on several events during the next few months, as part of this environmental justice ministry of the diocese. We will meet in the St. Anselm’s parking lot, and walk in Pacific Spirit Park, celebrate the Eucharist on a stone altar, and share a potluck meal.

The event will have the elements of a simple eucharist service, performed in a family-friendly, natural setting in which walking the trail will include times for prayer and reflection on the links between environmental awareness and spirituality.

If you have a heart for creation
If ocean, forest, river and field are where you feel most connected to God
If you are concerned about global climate change
If you want to bring your faith to work for ecological justice
If you are an environmental activist but keep your faith quiet
If you believe racial justice, economic justice and environmental justice are connected
This is a place for you!
Join us and see what grows, what unfolds, what rises up.

More about Rev. Laurel Dykstra
Laurel is a leader in justice and environmental issues in the diocese. She has enjoyed “taking church outdoors” in many ways—she has led field trips to visit a refugee in sanctuary, the mosque in the former St. Richard’s church in Norgate, and residents of the Downtown Eastside, all on the theme of discovering “who is my neighbour?”
