St. Anselm's Anglican Church hosts two speaker series each year to connect and inspire. In October our distinguished 'Earth & Spirit' speakers discuss issues that matter to you and the ecological world we live in.

On October 5th at 7:30pm we present Carmen Lansdowne. Rev. Dr. Lansdowne is the Director of Operations for Ecojustice Canada, an ordained UCC Minister, a parent, and an Aboriginal woman. She also serves on the board of the Environmental Youth Alliance.

Carmen joined Ecojustice as Director of Operations in early 2015 after almost 7 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. She overseas HR, IT, Admin and Facilities for their offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa. Prior to joining Ecojustice, Carmen served as Staff Selection Process Manager at Galileo Learning (developing innovators who envision and create a better world) and as Director of Operations at Alliance for Climate Education, both in Oakland, CA.

She is a member of the Heiltsuk First Nation, and cross-border commutes from Ferndale, WA where she lives with her partner and their two children. She holds a PhD in interdisciplinary studies from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA and sits on the Theology, Interchurch – Interfaith committee of the United Church of Canada. She also serves as Chair of the board of the Environmental Youth Alliance in Vancouver.

Carmen's talk will be Writing the law on our hearts: working with the lawyers at Ecojustice as a person of faith. Inspired by Romans 2:15 "They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, to which their own conscience also bears witness; and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them." She will talk about the parallels of the 'law' as a Christian theologian and the law as it is practiced to strengthen and enforce the laws protecting the Canadian environment.

Each speaker will respond to questions following their talk; the evening will conclude with a reception and social opportunity to chat with the speaker.

All are invited, bring a friend- bring two!

It's not too early to RSVP. Admission by suggested donation of $20, with tax receipts available for donations over $20. All are welcome!
